Aimed
to provide Albertans with a financial incentive and a social benefit to recycle their old
computer and electronic equipment. A country wide program, started in
Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in year 2004.
This
program is available to organizations with high volumes of equipment,
who wish to receive a return on their purchase and for individuals that
would like to do the same. Various donations programs also in place
through the Electronic Recycling Association, to provide low income
families, various charities, 3rd world countries with computers to
enable job creation, and learning.
Currently
accepting monitors, computer units, parts and accessories, televisions,
and other electronics type equipment. Providing a return based on the
reuse value, parts value, or value of recoverable components. Loosely
based on the Bottle Depot Model.
Pickup
service for items is also available throughout the province for a
minimal fee.
