The
Electronic Recycling Association successfully launches another
one of its many landfill Recycling Centers for old computers
and electronics. In order to prevent hundreds of computer
and electronic items from being buried forever these units
will be a way for removing all computers and electronics from
the landfills.
Most items
found in these centers are still usable and the E.R.A can put
them to good use by providing them to different organizations
and individuals in need. All unusable items collected are
stripped into the base materials and send off to specialist
recyclers who can recover small amounts of precious metals
found in some of these items.

Shown above
are Steven Foley from the
M.D.
of Foothills No. 31 Foothills Regional Waste Management
Facility and Bojan Paduh from Calgary based Electronic Recycling
Association of Alberta. Together they are offering this
Recycling Center for use of residents and organizations in the
High River, Okotokes area. This center will serve as a place
where organizations and individuals can drop off their
unwanted computers and electronics for reuse and recycling
year round.
Accepted
equipment includes such items as computers, monitors,
televisions, vcrs, and other electronic equipment.
All
items will be taken back to the Calgary based E.R.A and tested by
its people. Any usable equipment will be put to good use by
programs offered by the Electronic Recycling Association. Such
programs include donations to charities and not for profit
organizations, 3rd world countries schools, the
elderly, and poor.
This
is a start of a program to reduce the amount of waste that is
being buried, and reusing still possibly valuable computer and
electronic equipment. Such depot locations are to be established throughout
Alberta to help us reduce the amount of electronics related
type of waste from contaminating our landfills.
The
E.R.A is actively looking for new depot locations to
participate in its programs. The benefits of participating are
clear from this programs results, a cleaner environment for
all and a social benefit, providing the disadvantaged
communities with equipment for job training, entertainment for
kids and elderly, etc. Alberta based charitable organizations
are also invited to contact The E.R.A and request equipment to
help their cause.
With
the announcement of the provincial program to recycle all
electronic equipment, the Electronic Recycling Association
makes its services available to organizations and individuals
that require an environmental solution to their Ewaste
problems. If companies have unwanted computer equipment the
E.R.A can arrange a pickup throughout Alberta and is able to
accept items at various locations throughout the province.
