Looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community while building hands-on tech experience? The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) invites you to join our volunteer program! By supporting our refurbishment and recycling initiatives, you’ll not only help reduce e-waste but also gain valuable computer knowledge—and after completing your hours, you’ll receive a refurbished computer of your own.
What You’ll Gain:
- Practical, hands-on experience in computer refurbishment
- Insight into electronic recycling processes and sustainability initiatives
- A refurbished laptop or desktop and a certificate of appreciation after completing 24 volunteer hours
Who Can Apply:
- No prior computer experience required—this is a great place to start!
- Must be at least 16 years old
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn are a must
Volunteer Tasks May Include:
- Sorting cables, hard drives, and RAM
- Testing and cleaning monitors
- Removing decals using heat guns
- Disassembling non-operational devices for reusable parts (RAM, HDDs, CPUs, etc.)
- Assisting with unloading shipments
- Organizing laptop bags and accessories
- Tidying and cleaning work areas and equipment
Schedule & Commitment:
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Minimum shift: 4 hours
- Complete 24 hours to earn your refurbished computer
