Why Fraud Prevention Starts with Secure Electronics Recycling
Old computers, phones, and hard drives often contain personal and financial information that can be exploited if not properly destroyed. During Fraud Prevention Month, ERA works with law enforcement and community partners to give Canadians safe, free access to secure data destruction.
By attending this event, you are taking a proactive step to:
- Prevent identity theft and fraud
- Securely destroy confidential personal and business data
- Reduce electronic waste
- Support charities through ERA’s technology reuse programs

What to Expect at the Event:
Free Electronics Recycling
Bring your unwanted electronics and recycle them responsibly. ERA follows a reuse-before-recycle approach, refurbishing usable devices and donating them to charities, schools, and non-profits across Canada.
Free On-Site Hard Drive Shredding
ERA will be providing industrial on-site hard drive shredding at no cost, allowing you to securely destroy data-bearing devices and watch the process for complete peace of mind.
Bike Registration (Optional)
Attendees will also have the option to register their bicycles with Project 529 Garage, a free service that helps deter bike theft.
Accepted Electronic Items
ERA accepts a wide range of electronics in any condition, including:
- Laptops and desktop computers
- Tablets and smartphones
