The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to support Humanitarian Solidarity for Development and Empowerment Canada (HSDE Canada) in Winnipeg, Manitoba, through the donation of five refurbished laptops to help launch and expand their Community Computer Hub and Computer Youth Hub.

This donation will provide immigrant and newcomer youth, along with women seeking to improve their digital skills, with access to free computers and training during both daytime and evening programming. Reliable access to technology plays a critical role in building digital literacy, improving employability, and supporting job-readiness in today’s workforce. By equipping HSDE Canada with refurbished laptops, ERA is helping remove barriers to education and employment while creating inclusive learning opportunities within the community.

HSDE Canada’s Community Computer Hub is designed to support participants with essential computer skills, online job searching, resume building, and access to digital resources. Many newcomers and individuals facing economic barriers do not have reliable access to personal devices, which limits their ability to pursue education, employment, and essential online services. This initiative helps bridge the digital divide while empowering participants to gain confidence, independence, and practical skills needed to succeed.

As a Canadian non-profit dedicated to reducing electronic waste and expanding access to technology, the Electronic Recycling Association partners with businesses across Canada to securely refurbish and redistribute surplus IT equipment to charities, schools, and community organizations. All donated devices are professionally refurbished, and data is securely erased to industry standards to protect donor privacy while extending the life of usable technology.

By prioritizing reuse before recycling, ERA helps keep electronic waste out of landfills while ensuring functional devices continue to serve a meaningful purpose in communities across Canada. This donation to HSDE Canada in Winnipeg supports long-term social impact by strengthening digital inclusion, enhancing employability, and fostering economic independence for immigrant and newcomer communities.
