At the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA), we believe that access to technology plays a powerful role in creating opportunity, strengthening communities, and supporting positive outcomes for children and families. Through our national donation programs, ERA ensures that refurbished electronics are redirected to organizations where they can make a meaningful and lasting impact.
As part of this ongoing mission, ERA recently donated two refurbished laptops to CTO Child & Youth Educational Services, supporting their vital work with children, youth, and families in the community.
Supporting Youth Through Access to Technology
CTO Child & Youth Educational Services provides essential programs and supports for children and youth facing social, emotional, and developmental challenges. Their work focuses on empowering young people, strengthening families, and promoting long-term well-being.
Reliable technology is critical to delivering these services effectively. The donated laptops will help support daily operations, internal communication, and program coordination—allowing staff to manage documentation securely, stay connected with families, and deliver services more efficiently.
Reuse Before Recycling: Creating Environmental and Social Impact
At ERA, reuse always comes before recycling. When businesses and organizations donate unwanted electronics, we ensure that all devices undergo secure data wiping, professional refurbishment, and responsible redistribution to charities and non-profits whenever possible.
By extending the life of usable technology, ERA helps to:
- Reduce electronic waste entering landfills
- Promote environmentally responsible e-waste recycling
- Support digital access for non-profits and community organizations
- Create meaningful social impact through technology reuse
Each refurbished device represents both an environmental win and a step toward greater digital inclusion across Canada.
Small Donations, Meaningful Change
While this donation included two laptops, its impact extends far beyond the devices themselves. For organizations like CTO Child & Youth Educational Services, access to reliable technology strengthens internal operations and enhances their ability to support children and youth who rely on their programs.
ERA is proud to act as a bridge between organizations with surplus IT equipment and community groups that can put this technology to meaningful use.
Get Involved with ERA
If your organization is in need of refurbished laptops or other IT equipment, we encourage you to submit a donation request through ERA. Businesses with surplus electronics can also make a positive difference by choosing to donate or recycle their equipment responsibly.
