The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to partner with York House School in Vancouver, British Columbia, for the Congo Tech Drive 2026, an electronics recycling fundraiser taking place from February 23 to March 12, 2026.
This initiative is part of ERA’s Moolah for Macros fundraising program, where collected electronics generate funds based on material value. The funds raised through this drive will support the Panzi Foundation, a humanitarian organization assisting survivors of sexual violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Event Dates & Logistics
Collection Period: February 23 – March 12, 2026
Location: York House School, 4176 Alexandra St, Vancouver, BC
ERA will provide collection cages, bins, banners, and full logistical coordination to support both the junior and senior school campuses, ensuring a smooth and secure electronics recycling fundraiser in Vancouver.
Turning E-Waste into Global Impact
The Congo Tech Drive encourages students, families, faculty, and staff to donate unwanted, unused, or gently used electronics. Instead of ending up in landfills, these devices will be securely processed by ERA – either refurbished for reuse or responsibly recycled according to environmental standards in British Columbia.
Accepted items include:
- Laptops and desktop computers
- Tablets and mobile phones
- Projectors (including bulk donations)
- Headphones and digital cameras
- Small electronics and accessories
By donating electronics, the York House community is helping to reduce e-waste in BC while supporting an important humanitarian cause.
Secure Data Destruction & Responsible Recycling in BC
All donated devices undergo ERA’s certified data destruction processes before refurbishment or recycling. As an ISO 9001, 14001, 27001, and 45001 certified organization, ERA maintains the highest standards in:
- Secure data wiping and destruction
- Environmental compliance
- Responsible IT asset processing
- Transparent tracking and reporting
Participants can donate with confidence, knowing their sensitive information will be permanently destroyed before reuse or recycling.
Moolah for Macros: Fundraising Through Electronics Recycling
ERA’s Moolah for Macros program enables schools and organizations across British Columbia to fundraise through responsible electronics recycling. The more eligible electronics collected, the greater the funds generated for the chosen cause.
For York House School, this means transforming surplus IT equipment into meaningful financial support for the Panzi Foundation – demonstrating how environmental stewardship and social responsibility can work hand in hand.
Reuse Comes Before Recycling
At ERA, our guiding principle is simple: Reuse comes before recycling.
By extending the life of electronics whenever possible, ERA helps reduce landfill waste, lower carbon emissions, and increase access to technology for charities and nonprofits across Canada.
The Congo Tech Drive 2026 highlights how schools in Vancouver and throughout British Columbia can lead sustainability efforts while creating both local and global impact.
