Supporting Digital Literacy Through Electronic Recycling in Ottawa

By electronic recycling association February 26, 2026

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to support community organizations across Canada by providing refurbished technology to those who need it most. Most recently, ERA donated a laptop to People, Word & Change in Ottawa, Ontario, helping advance digital literacy and educational access within the community.

This donated laptop will support a basic computer skills program designed to empower learners with essential digital knowledge. One participant in the program requires a laptop to practice, complete coursework, and build confidence using technology. With access to a reliable device, learners can strengthen their skills, improve employability, and pursue further educational opportunities.

At ERA, we believe that access to technology should not be a barrier to success. Through our secure electronic recycling and refurbishment process, donated devices are carefully data-wiped and restored before being redistributed to charities, schools, and nonprofits across Canada. By prioritizing reuse, ERA helps reduce electronic waste while supporting digital inclusion initiatives nationwide.

Organizations like People, Word & Change play a vital role in creating opportunities for individuals to grow and succeed. We are honored to contribute to their mission by ensuring learners have the tools they need to thrive in today’s digital world.
