The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) was proud to join community partners, law enforcement agencies, and fraud prevention experts at the official Fraud Prevention Month kickoff event in Edmonton on March 4, 2026. The event took place at the Central Lions Seniors Centre, bringing together organizations committed to helping Albertans recognize, reject, and report fraud.

Fraud Prevention Month is a nationwide awareness initiative focused on educating individuals and businesses about scams, identity theft, and cybercrime. With fraud schemes becoming increasingly sophisticated, events like this provide valuable education and resources to help communities stay informed and protected.

At the kickoff event, attendees had the opportunity to connect with fraud prevention specialists and learn practical ways to safeguard their personal and business information. As part of ERA’s commitment to data security, the organization continues to raise awareness about the risks associated with retired electronics and the importance of secure data destruction and responsible IT asset disposition to prevent identity theft and data breaches.

ERA would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the community partners and law enforcement agencies who helped make this event a success. Their ongoing dedication to public education and consumer protection plays a vital role in keeping communities safe from fraud.

This event marked a great kickoff to Fraud Prevention Month, and ERA looks forward to participating in additional events across Canada throughout March. Communities are encouraged to attend upcoming events to learn more about protecting their data, safely recycling electronics, and preventing fraud.
