Electronic Recycling in Canada: ERA Donates Laptops to Support Autism Employment Programs

By electronic recycling association March 20, 2026

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to support inclusive technology access through its recent donation of 10 laptops to the Society for Autism Support and Services in Calgary, AB. This donation will directly benefit participants in the organization’s Adolescent and Adult Services Program, including its Digital Literacy Workshop and Pre-Employment Program.

Access to reliable technology remains a significant barrier for many autistic and neurodiverse individuals, particularly those from low-income backgrounds. Without personal computers, participants often struggle to develop essential digital skills, create resumes, apply for jobs, or attend virtual interviews—critical steps toward meaningful employment.

Through this donation, ERA is helping bridge that gap. The laptops will be used hands-on by participants to build digital literacy, improve job readiness, and actively pursue employment opportunities. These tools are essential in empowering individuals to gain independence and confidently navigate today’s digital workforce.

The Society for Autism Support and Services is currently piloting its Digital Literacy Workshop, ERA remains committed to reducing electronic waste while creating social impact. By refurbishing donated electronics and redistributing them to organizations in need, ERA helps strengthen communities, support underserved populations, and promote a more inclusive and sustainable future.

If your business or organization in Calgary or the Greater Calgary Area has laptops, computers, or IT equipment to donate, ERA makes it easy to recycle responsibly while creating meaningful social impact.
