On April 8, 2026, the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) hosted a successful Fraud Prevention Event in partnership with the Langley RCMP at the Otter Co-op Retail Centre in Langley, British Columbia. The event gave community members a safe and secure way to dispose of old electronics and protect their personal information through responsible recycling and data destruction.
Held at 3650 248 Street, Langley, BC, V4W 1X7, the event encouraged residents to bring unwanted electronics for proper handling. By participating, community members helped reduce e-waste while taking an important step toward preventing identity theft and fraud. Events like this are a key part of ERA’s mission to promote secure electronic recycling and data security across Canada.
Together, ERA and the Langley RCMP collected a wide range of electronics, including 19 PCs, 9 LCD monitors, 47 laptops, 4 all-in-one computers, 3 printers, 11 switches, 117 cellphones, 47 tablets, 138 hard drives, 159 floppy disks, 1 cable box, 86 CDs, 19 VHS tapes, 18 USB devices, 4 cameras, 1 PS3, and 1 TV. The total estimated weight collected was 1,738 pounds.
All reusable devices collected through the event will be securely data wiped, refurbished where possible, and redirected to support charities and organizations in need. This reuse-first approach helps keep usable technology out of landfills while creating new opportunities for communities across Canada.
In addition to electronics recycling, the event also supported Langley’s Acts of Kindness through the collection of non-perishable food donations and monetary contributions, adding another layer of community impact to the day.
