ERA Donates 10 Refurbished Laptops to Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association
The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to announce the donation of 10 refurbished laptops to the Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association (CIWA)—a long-standing nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering immigrant and refugee women as they build new lives in Canada.
This donation reflects ERA’s mission to reduce electronic waste and bridge Canada’s digital divide by repurposing used technology for communities in need. These laptops will directly support women enrolled in CIWA’s programs focused on digital literacy, job readiness, and community integration, helping participants develop the skills necessary to thrive in today’s digital economy.
Supporting CIWA’s Mission With Sustainable Technology
For over 40 years, CIWA has delivered more than 50 gender-specific, culturally responsive programs that support immigrant and refugee women and their families—from language training and employment services to youth and family support. By integrating refurbished technology into their programming, CIWA can expand access to online resources, improve service delivery, and strengthen participants’ digital confidence.
ERA’s partnership with CIWA reflects a shared commitment to inclusion, empowerment, and sustainability. Since its founding nearly two decades ago, ERA has diverted thousands of tons of e-waste from landfills and donated tens of thousands of refurbished devices to Canadian charities, nonprofits, schools, and individuals who lack access to essential technology.
Help Empower Communities While Reducing E-Waste
ERA accepts a wide range of electronic devices—including laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, and peripherals—from individuals and businesses. Every donated item undergoes secure data destruction and professional refurbishment before being distributed to organizations across Canada.
Your unused electronics can help nonprofits like CIWA continue their vital work in promoting equity, access, and opportunity for underserved communities.
Join the movement today: donate your devices and help us build a more connected and sustainable future.
