The Alberta Rural Development Network (ARDN) is a not-for-profit group that offers community social development services on a cost-recovery basis. They can help you identify and access funding to support projects, guide you through a funding application or write it on your behalf, and equip you with tools, information, and expertise needed to jump-start projects identified by your community. ARDN’s work also includes advocacy on broader issues, and amplifying the collective voice of rural communities to fuel affordable housing development, community revitalization, and improve the quality of life for rural Canadians.

VISION
A strong sustainable network that empowers rural communities by facilitating and providing access to trusted rural development expertise, information and services

MISSION
To facilitate, support and champion rural community development through collaboration,
research and service provision.

MANDATE
ARDN supports the sustainability of rural communities. They work with communities to amplify the “rural voice”. They collaborate to identify and bring focus to rural issues, build local capacity, and find innovative, rural-based solutions to unique issues.

What is ARDN?

ARDN uses the combined expertise of Alberta’s post-secondary institutions to support rural development in Alberta and help rural communities grow through research and learning.

ARDN supports rural communities and community-based organizations by:

  1. Providing a resource to help communities develop capacity, identify community needs and follow through on opportunities to build stronger futures in rural Alberta;
  2. Facilitating strategic research on economic, environmental and social issues affecting the well-being of people in rural communities;
  3. Expanding access to training and education in rural communities

ERA donated 5 monitors to the Alberta Rural Development Network located in Edmonton. Kelly Petraschuk, an employee at Alberta Rural Development Network commented, “Thank you Electronic Recycling Association for the monitors! Our team is beyond excited to not only use them for our analysts’ work, but also be able to divert perfectly-usable electronics from the landfill.”

We wish them all the best for the future. If you would like to learn more about this organization, please click on their website here.

As a non-profit, we know that sometimes it is difficult to obtain enough funding to support your programs. To help out, ERA offers an e-waste fundraiser program to benefit charities and other non-profit groups. If you would like to apply and learn more about this program, please go to the link here.
