ERA and Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School Host Annual E-Waste Collection
On April 26th, 2025 the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) partnered once again with Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School in Calgary to host their annual e-waste fundraiser event, bringing the community together for a greener, more sustainable future.
This initiative, held on school grounds, encouraged students, families, and local residents to responsibly dispose of their unwanted electronics. The result? A successful collection of 1,641.40 lbs. of e-waste, all diverted from landfills and destined for refurbishment or safe recycling.
Why This Matters
E-waste continues to be one of the fastest-growing waste streams globally, and many people are unsure of how or where to recycle outdated electronics. ERA’s mission is to provide simple, accessible solutions—turning potential waste into valuable tools for charities, nonprofits, and individuals in need.
Items Collected Included:
- Desktop and laptop computers
- Tablets and smartphones
- Printers and accessories
- Gaming consoles and cameras
- Peripherals like keyboards, mice, and cables
A Dual Impact: Environmental and Social
This collection event was part of ERA’s Moolah for Macros program, which helps schools and nonprofits raise funds while also giving back to the community. Refurbished items from the event will be donated to organizations across Canada, contributing to education, employment, and digital access for underserved groups.
Thank You, Calgary!
ERA extends sincere thanks to the staff, students, and families of Dr. E.P. Scarlett High School, as well as the wider community, for their generous participation. Your commitment to responsible recycling helps reduce environmental harm and supports meaningful social change.
