Event Details

  • Date: April 29, 2026
  • Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
  • Location: 5440 Spring Garden Rd, Halifax

Community members are encouraged to bring their unwanted electronics for responsible recycling and reuse. ERA prioritizes refurbishment and donation of functional equipment to charities, schools, and individuals in need, helping extend the lifecycle of technology and reduce electronic waste.

Why Participate?

By participating in this event, attendees help reduce e-waste, support local charities, and contribute to environmental sustainability. ERA’s reuse-first approach ensures that working electronics are refurbished and redistributed whenever possible, supporting communities across Canada.

This initiative offers a convenient and meaningful way for residents to safely dispose of unwanted electronics while helping promote a greener future.

Data Security & Responsible Recycling

Protecting personal and organizational data is an important part of ERA’s process. All collected electronics are securely handled, and data-bearing devices are processed according to certified data destruction and recycling procedures. Participants can recycle electronics with confidence, knowing their information is managed responsibly.

At many ERA events, participants also have the opportunity to learn about secure data destruction, including how storage devices such as hard drives are physically destroyed using specialized shredding equipment. These demonstrations help raise awareness about data security and show how ERA protects sensitive information.

What You Can Bring

Residents are encouraged to bring common electronics such as:

  • Laptops and computers
  • Monitors and accessories
  • Phones and tablets
  • Cables and peripherals
  • Small office electronics

ERA accepts most small and medium electronics. Large household appliances are not accepted.

Supporting a Greener Halifax

This Earth Day initiative helps reduce landfill waste, supports digital inclusion, and promotes sustainability in the community. Reusable electronics collected during the event will be refurbished and donated to charities and non-profit organizations in need of technology.

ERA staff will be onsite with informational materials, collection containers, and support for participants. The team will also track collection totals and provide recycling documentation following the event.

Join ERA at Halifax Central Library and take part in a meaningful Earth Day initiative supporting responsible electronics recycling, sustainability, and community impact.
