The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to support Adsum for Women & Children in Halifax, Nova Scotia, through a recent technology donation made in collaboration with the Honourable Lisa Lachance, MLA for Halifax Citadel–Sable Island.

Through this initiative, ERA donated five refurbished laptops and five tablets, providing Adsum’s team with essential tools to strengthen service delivery and expand access to support for women and children facing homelessness and housing insecurity in the Halifax region.

Empowering Frontline Services Through Technology

Adsum for Women & Children plays a vital role in Nova Scotia’s social support network, delivering housing, employment programs, advocacy services, and emergency support to women and children experiencing crisis. Reliable technology is critical to coordinating programs, maintaining client records, delivering virtual services, and connecting individuals with housing, healthcare, and employment resources.

This donation equips Adsum’s staff with the tools they need to operate more efficiently and respond more effectively to the complex needs of the community — strengthening long-term outcomes for the people they serve.

From Electronic Waste to Community Impact

Through ERA’s national reuse-first electronic recycling program, donated devices are professionally refurbished, fully data-wiped, and prepared for safe reuse before being responsibly recycled at end of life. This approach extends the life of valuable technology while ensuring the highest standards of data security and environmental stewardship.

For organizations across Canada, ERA’s model delivers measurable ESG outcomes — reducing electronic waste, protecting sensitive data, and transforming surplus technology into meaningful community resources.

Strengthening Communities Together

ERA is honoured to collaborate with MLA Lisa Lachance and community leaders in Nova Scotia to support organizations like Adsum that are creating lasting social impact. By redirecting retired technology into frontline services, ERA continues its mission to close the digital divide while building stronger, more resilient communities across Canada.
