Electronic Recycling Association Supports Engineering Innovation at the University of Victoria

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to support the University of Victoria’s Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) Student Body through a strategic technology donation designed to advance engineering education and innovation.

The donation includes one desktop computer, one printer, two monitors, and six Lenovo ThinkPad Thunderbolt 3 docking stations. This equipment will enable the IEEE student body to expand its project capacity and establish a new server environment to support advanced software for 3D modelling and 3D printing.

As post-secondary institutions continue to modernize learning environments while managing constrained budgets, access to reliable technology remains essential. ERA’s reuse-first model delivers enterprise-quality equipment to educational programs while reducing electronic waste — demonstrating how sustainable IT asset management can generate measurable academic, environmental, and social value.

All donated devices are professionally refurbished, fully data-wiped, and redeployed through ERA’s national donation program before being responsibly recycled. For CIOs and IT leaders, this approach supports data security, ESG objectives, regulatory compliance, and community impact through one streamlined lifecycle solution.

The Electronic Recycling Association works with organizations across Canada to transform surplus technology into high-impact community resources — reducing waste while strengthening education and opportunity.

If your organization is refreshing its IT assets, ERA provides pickups, certified data destruction, and comprehensive reporting, helping turn retired equipment into a lasting investment in Canada’s future workforce.
