Electronic Recycling Association Supports Marine Safety with Technology Donation to Victoria Marine Rescue Society

By electronic recycling association December 23, 2025

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to support lifesaving community services by donating a desktop computer, printer, monitor, and projector to the Victoria Marine Rescue Society in British Columbia.

This technology donation helps replace essential equipment that the organization lost due to theft and age-related failure—resources that are critical to training volunteers and coordinating marine rescue operations along the coast.

Strengthening Volunteer Training Through Reused Technology

The Victoria Marine Rescue Society relies heavily on technology to deliver training, manage operations, and support its volunteer search-and-rescue crews.

Unfortunately, their training laptop and projector were stolen several years ago, and their desktop computer and printer were no longer functional. Despite ongoing efforts, the organization was unable to secure funding to replace these tools for over two years.

ERA’s donation provides much-needed equipment that will allow the Society to:

  • Deliver effective training sessions using a projector and monitor
  • Manage administrative and operational tasks with a reliable desktop computer
  • Print training materials, reports, and documentation in-house
  • Improve overall efficiency and readiness for emergency response

Supporting Marine Rescue While Reducing E-Waste

As a national non-profit organization, ERA works to extend the life of donated electronics by refurbishing and redistributing them to charities, schools, and community groups across Canada. This approach not only reduces electronic waste but also ensures that organizations providing critical services have access to the technology they need.

By donating refurbished electronics to the Victoria Marine Rescue Society, ERA is helping support marine safety, volunteer preparedness, and environmental sustainability—all at the same time.

Bridging the Digital Divide for Community Organizations

Many non-profit and volunteer-based organizations face ongoing challenges in replacing outdated or stolen technology due to limited funding. ERA’s donation program helps bridge this gap by redirecting usable electronics from businesses and individuals to organizations that can put them to meaningful use.

Technology donations like this one ensure that community organizations can continue their important work without interruption, while keeping valuable electronics out of landfills.
