Electronic Recycling Creates Opportunities for Calgary Families in Need

By electronic recycling association September 20, 2025

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to announce a recent donation of a refurbished desktop computer to Closer to Home Community Services in Calgary, Alberta.

This computer was provided to support a family participating in Closer to Home’s affordable housing program, helping them access the technology they need for work, school, and daily life. Access to reliable technology plays a vital role in empowering families to build stability, improve digital literacy, and stay connected with essential resources.

At ERA, we believe that every device has the power to create opportunity. By refurbishing and redistributing technology, we not only reduce electronic waste but also help organizations like Closer to Home strengthen their community programs.

Affordable housing programs are designed to give families a fresh start, but without access to essential tools like computers, many face barriers to success. Whether it’s applying for jobs, attending online classes, or staying in touch with loved ones, a desktop computer can make a significant difference in building a brighter future.

Every year, ERA works with hundreds of charities, nonprofits, and community organizations across Canada to supply them with much-needed technology. By donating your unwanted electronics, you help reduce e-waste, protect the environment, and empower families in need.

Call 1877-939-2783 to book a pickup today or drop off your electronics at one of our depots to support families like those in Closer to Home’s programs.
