The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to support the Calgary Immigrant Women’s Association (CIWA) with a donation of 17 laptops and a desktop computer. This initiative reflects ERA’s ongoing commitment to bridging the digital divide, reducing electronic waste, and empowering Canadian nonprofits that make a difference in underserved communities.
Supporting CIWA’s Mission to Empower Women
For over 40 years, CIWA has been a nationally recognized leader in delivering more than 50 culturally responsive and gender-specific programs for immigrant and refugee women. Their services focus on language learning, employment readiness, digital literacy, and community integration—critical resources that help women build independent and fulfilling lives in Canada.
This donation will enhance CIWA’s ability to deliver programs, increase access to technology, and strengthen digital skills among participants.
ERA’s Dual Mission: Sustainability and Social Impact
At ERA, our mission is twofold:
- Reduce e-waste through secure, responsible electronics recycling and refurbishment.
- Redistribute refurbished technology to charities, schools, and nonprofits across Canada.
Every donated device undergoes certified data wiping, professional testing, and high-quality refurbishment before being placed into the hands of organizations and individuals who need it most.
Creating a Lasting Community Impact
This collaboration between ERA and CIWA demonstrates how environmental responsibility and social empowerment go hand in hand. By promoting digital inclusion, we are not only preventing electronics from ending up in landfills but also helping women connect, learn, and thrive in their communities.
