Electronic Recycling Creates Opportunities for Youth in the Film Industry

By electronic recycling association August 15, 2025

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to support Project Humanity in Toronto through the donation of four refurbished laptops, helping young people access the tools they need to explore their creative and professional potential.

These laptops will be dedicated to young participants in PH 1:1, Project Humanity’s socially engaged arts program. This initiative offers one-to-one online mentorships to youth on the margins, pairing them with professional artists in their chosen discipline.

In this case, the young recipient is living in a shelter and has limited access to technology. Through PH 1:1, she is pursuing her passion for filmmaking, and the laptop will serve as a vital tool for video editing and other production work. With a device capable of running current software and storing large video files, she will be better equipped to work on her mentorship projects and take steps toward her goal of building a career in the film industry.

Technology that Opens Doors

ERA’s mission extends beyond reducing e-waste — it’s about creating opportunities. By refurbishing and donating electronics, we provide essential resources to charities, non-profits, and individuals who may otherwise go without. In this case, the laptops will not only assist in the PH 1:1 mentorships but also contribute to empowering marginalized youth to tell their stories through art and media.
