Electronic Recycling Fuels Advocacy and Education in Toronto

By electronic recycling association August 14, 2025

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) has strengthened community development in Toronto through a recent technology donation to the African Canadian Social Development Council (ACSDC). This donation of two refurbished laptops will enhance the council’s ability to support over 150 African Canadian community organizations across Ontario.

Supporting Advocacy, Education, and Community Development

Founded in 2002, ACSDC serves as an umbrella organization for more than 150 African Canadian community agencies and cultural organizations. Their work spans advocacy, research, education, community development, and relief aid—all delivered through culturally relevant services.

With ERA’s donation of laptops, ACSDC can improve operational efficiency, streamline program delivery, and give staff and volunteers the digital tools they need to tackle pressing issues such as combating systemic racism, fostering equity, and empowering African Canadian communities.

Technology for Social Impact

At ERA, our mission goes beyond reducing electronic waste—we aim to empower charities, non-profits, and community groups with refurbished technology. By extending the life of used electronics through our reuse-first recycling model, we help bridge the digital divide, reduce e-waste, and promote environmental sustainability.

This donation is part of ERA’s ongoing effort to ensure that unwanted electronics are securely refurbished and redistributed to organizations making a difference.

How You Can Get Involved

If you’re a Canadian business or individual looking to donate electronics, your contribution can directly support charities like ACSDC. ERA offers free pickups in many regions, secure data destruction, and a simple process for technology donations.
