Halifax Harbour Bridges Hosts Free Electronics Recycling Event
On May 22, 2025, the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA), in partnership with Halifax Harbour Bridges, hosted a successful Free Community Electronics Recycling and Data Destruction Day at 125 Wyse Road in Dartmouth, NS.
The event drew in environmentally conscious residents from across the city, all committed to making a difference. Attendees arrived with unwanted laptops, phones, monitors, cables, and more — all ready to be responsibly recycled or securely destroyed.

A Key Feature: On-Site Hard Drive Shredding
One of the most valuable services offered was on-site hard drive shredding. Community members had the opportunity to watch their hard drives be physically destroyed right in front of them — ensuring complete data security and peace of mind.
This service, offered at no cost, was a highlight of the day and an important reminder of the importance of protecting sensitive information when disposing of electronic devices. Certificates of destruction were also available upon request.
Why This Event Mattered
Every donated item will now be assessed and, where possible, refurbished for donation to a Canadian charity, school, or individual in need. The rest will be responsibly recycled, keeping harmful e-waste out of landfills.
Through events like this, ERA continues to pursue its mission of bridging the digital divide and supporting sustainability through secure data destruction and reuse.
Items Accepted at the Event
