The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to support vulnerable individuals in British Columbia through its latest technology donation. Most recently, ERA donated 5 mobile phones to the Vanished Project in Vancouver, BC, helping individuals living in crisis regain connection, safety, and stability.
Access to a reliable mobile phone is often taken for granted. However, for individuals facing homelessness, exploitation, or violence, a phone can be life-changing.
Each donated device will help someone:
- Stay connected to medical care and critical appointments
- Reconnect with family or loved ones after long periods of disconnection
- Call for help in emergencies
- Maintain contact with outreach teams and support workers
For people navigating crisis situations, something as simple as a phone can mean the difference between isolation and support — between vulnerability and protection.
Through ERA’s secure data destruction and reuse-first model, all donated devices are professionally data-wiped before being refurbished and redistributed to charities and nonprofit organizations. This ensures that sensitive information is permanently erased while extending the lifecycle of electronics and reducing e-waste in Canadian communities.
Every device donated not only diverts electronics from landfills but also creates meaningful opportunities for individuals who need them most.
