The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to continue its mission of digital inclusion and environmental responsibility through a recent donation of 5 mobile phones to the Centre Social d’Aide aux Immigrants (CSAI) – Maison Marie-Gérin-Lajoie in Montreal, Quebec.
This donation will directly benefit clients of CSAI, many of whom are newcomers to Canada working to build stable, independent lives. Access to a reliable mobile phone is essential for staying connected with support networks, accessing services, applying for jobs, and navigating daily life. By providing these devices, ERA is helping to remove barriers and empower individuals with the tools they need to succeed.
For immigrants and refugees, access to technology can play a critical role in integration. From scheduling appointments and communicating with settlement workers to accessing online resources and employment opportunities, mobile phones are a vital lifeline. This donation ensures that CSAI clients have greater access to communication and digital resources, supporting their transition into the community.
At ERA, we believe in reuse before recycling. All donated devices are securely wiped using industry-leading data destruction standards, professionally tested, and restored to optimal working condition. This process not only protects previous users’ data but also extends the life of electronics—reducing e-waste and supporting a more sustainable future.
Through its national donation program, ERA provides refurbished electronics to charities and non-profit organizations across Canada, helping bridge the digital divide while promoting responsible electronic recycling.
This donation to CSAI – Maison Marie-Gérin-Lajoie highlights the impact that repurposed technology can have in strengthening communities and supporting those in need.
