Electronic Recycling Takes Centre Stage at CF Polo Park’s Earth Month Event

By electronic recycling association May 2, 2025

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA), in partnership with Cadillac Fairview’s CF Polo Park Shopping Centre, hosted a Free Electronics Collection Event in celebration of Earth Month in Winnipeg, MB. The event invited local residents, families, and organizations to take part in meaningful climate action by responsibly recycling their unwanted electronics.

Community Action for a Greener Future

Throughout the day, members of the Winnipeg community took the opportunity to safely and securely dispose of electronic devices. This successful, community-driven initiative helped divert e-waste from landfills and directly supported ERA’s mission to extend the lifecycle of technology through reuse, refurbishment, and responsible recycling.

Turning E-Waste into Opportunity

All collected devices are now undergoing certified data destruction and evaluation for refurbishment.

  • Reusable equipment will be refurbished and donated to Canadian charities, nonprofits, and schools in need.
  • Non-functional items will be recycled responsibly according to industry environmental standards.

Thanks to community participation, these efforts will contribute to reducing e-waste while supporting digital inclusion across Canada. Currently, over 500 charities are on ERA’s waitlist for donated technology.

Extending the Impact of Earth Month

Although Earth Day falls on April 22, ERA dedicates the entire month to raising awareness and encouraging eco-conscious action. Community-driven events like this one highlight how local engagement can create lasting positive change for the planet and for those lacking access to technology.

If you weren’t able to attend, it’s not too late to contribute.
