The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) proudly partnered with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Central Canada to host a highly successful Electronics Collection and Data Shredding Event, collecting and securely processing 2,139.5 lbs of electronic waste from local businesses and community members.

Promoting Secure and Sustainable E-Waste Disposal
The event provided residents and businesses with a safe, convenient, and environmentally responsible way to dispose of unwanted electronics — including laptops, desktops, phones, tablets, hard drives, tapes, and other data-bearing devices.
All collected hard drives were securely shredded both on-site and off-site, ensuring complete data protection. A total of 567 hard drives were destroyed, reaffirming ERA’s commitment to secure data destruction and privacy protection.
Giving Technology a Second Life
As part of ERA’s ongoing mission to reduce e-waste and promote digital equity, reusable items collected at the event will be refurbished and donated to Canadian charities, schools, and nonprofit organizations in need. Any items beyond repair will be recycled responsibly in compliance with industry best practices for environmental safety and sustainability.
