Supporting Digital Access Through Technology Reuse
The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) recently donated one laptop to Recovery Alberta’s Southern Alberta Forensic Psychiatry Centre. The centre will provide the device to a client who needs reliable access to technology.
Today, laptops support communication, education, employment, and access to online services. Therefore, even one device can make a meaningful difference in a person’s daily life.
Giving Technology a Second Life
ERA collects unwanted computers, laptops, smartphones, and other electronics from businesses across Canada.
First, ERA securely processes the equipment and protects stored data. Next, the team identifies devices that can be reused. ERA then prepares suitable equipment for donation to charities, schools, non-profits, and community programs.
As a result, reusable electronics stay in service longer while helping people who need access to technology.
Supporting Recovery Alberta
Recovery Alberta provides mental health and addiction services across the province. Its Southern Alberta Forensic Psychiatry Centre offers specialized care and support to clients.
ERA proudly donated this laptop to support one of the centre’s clients. To protect the recipient’s privacy, ERA will not share any personal information.
Technology reuse supports both people and the environment. It reduces electronic waste, extends the life of useful equipment, and improves digital access.
