Technology for New Beginnings: ERA Supports
Matthew House Toronto
The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to support Matthew House Toronto through the donation of five refurbished desktop computers and five laptops.
This technology donation will provide Matthew House with additional digital resources to support its important work in the Toronto community.
Supporting Refugees and Newcomers Through Technology
Matthew House Toronto provides a welcoming community and a range of services to help refugee claimants establish new lives in Canada. Its work includes shelter, settlement support, transitional housing, refugee hearing preparation and programs designed to help newcomers adjust to life in Toronto.
Access to reliable computers can play an important role in this process.
Technology can help individuals search and apply for employment, access online services, complete educational activities, communicate with support networks and develop the digital skills needed for everyday life in Canada.
By donating 5 computers and 5 laptops, ERA is helping Matthew House strengthen access to these essential digital tools.
Giving Refurbished Technology a Second Life
ERA’s charitable computer donation program focuses on refurbishing reusable electronics and providing them to charities and community organizations across Canada. This approach helps extend the useful life of technology while making reliable equipment available to organizations that can put it to meaningful use.
Instead of allowing working computers and laptops to become electronic waste, ERA works to give suitable equipment a second life.
This creates two important benefits: reducing unnecessary e-waste and helping address barriers to technology access.
Turning Unwanted Electronics Into Opportunities
Businesses and organizations across Canada regularly replace computers, laptops, monitors, smartphones and other IT equipment.
Equipment that is no longer needed by one organization may still have significant value for another.
ERA helps organizations responsibly manage unwanted electronics through electronics reuse and recycling, secure data destruction, IT asset disposition and technology donation programs. Suitable devices can be refurbished and redirected to charities and community organizations rather than unnecessarily entering the waste stream.
This model allows corporate technology upgrades to create both environmental and social impact.
