The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is thrilled to announce its recent contribution to Mamas for Mamas YVR—a donation comprising 1 laptop and 9 cell phones. These much-needed devices will be provided to clients who are transitioning out of domestic violence situations, forming a vital part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to supporting individuals and families experiencing poverty-related struggles.

Mamas for Mamas is a dedicated national charitable organization that focuses on assisting mothers and caregivers facing crisis situations. By addressing the financial barriers experienced by struggling families, they aim to transform the landscape of poverty through innovative approaches. Although their name emphasizes “Mamas,” their support extends to caregivers of all gender identities and expressions, including men, trans individuals, non-binary individuals, and two-spirit clients. Their vision encompasses a future where no Mama or child is left behind.

Startling statistics from Citizens for Public Justice reveal that 5.8 million people in Canada—accounting for 16.8% of the population—live in poverty (source: https://cpj.ca/poverty-trends-2018/). Recognizing the urgency of this situation, Mamas for Mamas actively collaborates with multiple levels of government and non-profit agencies to bring about systemic change. They address the underlying issues perpetuating the cycle of poverty, mental health challenges, housing instability, and food insecurity. Recently, they have expanded their reach digitally across Canada, amplifying their impact.

The ERA acknowledges the immense significance of this charity and is grateful for the opportunity to contribute. If you have any unwanted laptops that you would like to donate, please contact ERA, and we will be more than happy to arrange a pickup.

By supporting organizations like Mamas for Mamas, we can collectively work towards a more inclusive and equitable society, where individuals and families have the necessary resources to thrive.
