ERA Donation Program: Supporting Communities Through Technology

By electronic recycling association August 5, 2026

The ERA Otakuthon computer donation is creating new opportunities through technology. The Electronic Recycling Association donated 20 refurbished desktop computers to Otakuthon Anime Convention.

The donated computers will support Otakuthon’s administration, registration, communications, scheduling, volunteer coordination, and event planning.

Through the ERA Partnership Donation Program, ERA connects charities, non-profit organizations, schools, community groups, and events with reliable refurbished technology. As a result, organizations can access essential equipment while helping reduce electronic waste.

Supporting Otakuthon Through Technology

Technology plays an important role in organizing and delivering large community events. Computers help event teams coordinate volunteers, manage registrations, communicate with participants, develop schedules, prepare promotional materials, and complete administrative tasks.

By donating 20 refurbished desktop computers, ERA is helping Otakuthon access dependable technology without the cost of purchasing new equipment.

The donated computers will support Otakuthon’s workplace and event-related activities. They will also help the organization’s staff and volunteers continue creating engaging experiences for the anime community.

This donation demonstrates how access to reliable technology can strengthen community events and support the people who make them possible.

Giving Refurbished Computers a Second Life

ERA collects unwanted computers, laptops, servers, monitors, and other electronics from businesses and individuals across Canada.

Whenever possible, ERA refurbishes reusable equipment instead of sending it directly for recycling. Suitable devices can then receive a second life through donations to charities, schools, non-profit organizations, community groups, and individuals in need.

Through computer refurbishment and reuse, ERA helps:

  • Reduce electronic waste
  • Extend the useful life of computers
  • Improve access to reliable technology
  • Support Canadian charities and community organizations
  • Promote a more sustainable circular economy

The donation to Otakuthon shows how responsible electronics reuse can create both environmental and community benefits.

Instead of becoming electronic waste, these 20 desktop computers will continue to provide value and support meaningful community activities.

About the ERA Partnership Donation Program

The ERA Partnership Donation Program helps businesses and community organizations create measurable social and environmental impact.

Organizations can work with ERA to securely recycle unwanted electronics. At the same time, ERA can refurbish eligible devices and redirect them to organizations that need access to technology.

ERA partnership opportunities may include:

  • Refurbished desktop and laptop donations
  • Community electronics collection events
  • E-waste fundraising campaigns
  • Corporate electronics recycling programs
  • Technology donation initiatives
  • Environmental and social impact campaigns

Each partnership helps divert reusable electronics from landfills. In addition, it gives valuable technology a second purpose within the community.
