By electronic recycling association April 23, 2026

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) was proud to partner with Moment Energy to successfully host a Secure Data Destruction & Electronics Recycling Event in Coquitlam, British Columbia, on April 22, 2026, in celebration of Earth Day.

This successful partnership highlighted a shared commitment to sustainability, secure data protection, and responsible electronics recycling. The event provided a convenient solution for employees and participants to safely dispose of unwanted electronics while ensuring sensitive information was securely destroyed.

946 Pounds of Electronics Responsibly Collected

Thanks to strong participation, the event successfully collected 946 pounds of electronics for responsible reuse and recycling.

Every device collected represents waste diverted from landfill and another step toward a cleaner, more sustainable future.

Supporting Earth Day Through Meaningful Action

Held at 7 Burbidge Street, Suite 102, Coquitlam, BC, the event brought together environmental responsibility and practical action.

As Earth Day continues to inspire organizations across Canada, partnerships like this demonstrate how businesses can make a measurable impact through responsible waste diversion, circular economy initiatives, and secure IT asset disposal.

ERA and Moment Energy: Sustainability in Action

ERA was honoured to collaborate with Moment Energy, a recognized clean energy innovator focused on repurposing retired electric vehicle batteries into energy storage systems.

Their mission of extending product life cycles and reducing waste strongly aligns with ERA’s reuse-first model of electronics recycling, refurbishment, and donation.

Together, ERA and Moment Energy showcased how sustainability leadership can be turned into real community and environmental results.

Secure Data Destruction On-Site

One of the key highlights of the event was ERA’s mobile hard drive shredding service, which allowed participants to securely destroy hard drives directly on-site.

This service helps protect personal and business information by physically destroying data-bearing devices in accordance with trusted industry standards.

Secure on-site shredding continues to be one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of:

  • Data breaches
  • Identity theft
  • Unauthorized access to confidential files
  • Improper disposal of sensitive devices

Collected electronics are processed through ERA’s trusted system, where reusable items are refurbished and donated, while end-of-life materials are responsibly recycled.

Positive Environmental Impact

Events like this create immediate and long-term environmental benefits, including:

  • Reducing electronic waste sent to landfill
  • Recovering reusable materials
  • Protecting sensitive data
  • Supporting local communities through technology donations
  • Promoting sustainable business practices
