ERA Provides Technology Support to Directions forImmigrants in Calgary

By electronic recycling association January 26, 2026

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to support local community organizations by giving technology a second life. As part of our ongoing mission to promote digital inclusion and responsible electronics reuse, ERA recently donated one refurbished laptop and one desktop computer to Directions for Immigrants in Calgary, Alberta.

Supporting Newcomers Through Access to Technology

Directions for Immigrants plays an essential role in helping newcomers and immigrants settle, integrate, and succeed in Canada. Their programs focus on employment readiness, language learning, community connection, and access to vital services.

Reliable technology is a key tool in delivering these programs, ensuring clients can access online resources, training platforms, job applications, and essential communication tools. By providing a refurbished laptop and desktop computer, ERA is helping strengthen the organization’s operational capacity and support individuals and families as they build new lives in Calgary.

Why Technology Donations Matter

Access to computers remains a significant barrier for many non-profit organizations and the communities they serve. At the same time, thousands of usable electronics are discarded every year.

ERA bridges this gap by:

  • Collecting unused and gently used electronics
  • Securely wiping all data to industry standards
  • Refurbishing equipment for reuse
  • Donating technology to charities, schools, and community organizations across Canada

This approach not only supports social good, but also keeps electronic waste out of landfills and reduces environmental impact.

Local Impact in Calgary

This donation highlights ERA’s commitment to supporting immigrant-serving organizations in Calgary and empowering them with the tools they need to create meaningful, lasting impact. Even small donations – like one laptop and one desktop – can make a big difference when placed in the right hands.
