Protecting Data Through Secure Disposal

As organizations and individuals increasingly rely on digital technology, large volumes of sensitive information are stored on electronic devices. Improper disposal of hard drives, computers, and mobile devices can expose confidential personal or corporate data, increasing the risk of identity theft, financial fraud, and data breaches.

This event provides a secure and accessible solution for the proper destruction and recycling of electronic materials, helping participants reduce risk while supporting environmental sustainability.

Event Features

On-Site Hard Drive Shredding Demonstration

ERA will showcase its mobile hard drive shredding unit, providing a live demonstration of physical data destruction to ensure information is permanently unrecoverable. The venue will provide access to a standard 120V power outlet capable of supplying a minimum of 20 AMPs.

Free Electronics Recycling

Participants may drop off unwanted or obsolete electronics for secure recycling or refurbishment for charitable reuse, in alignment with ERA’s environmental and social impact programs.

Fraud Prevention Awareness

Representatives from ERA, the City of Burnaby, and Burnaby RCMP will be available to share information on data protection best practices and fraud prevention.

Certificates of Data Destruction

Certificates will be available for individuals and organizations that require formal documentation of secure data destruction.
