Supporting the Beavers for a Greener Future

The event is also helping local Beavers work toward their North Star Award through community involvement and environmental action.

By collecting unwanted electronics, participants are helping raise awareness about electronic waste while encouraging responsible reuse and recycling practices.

Community electronics collection events like this give residents a convenient way to clear out unused technology while helping keep electronic equipment and recoverable materials out of landfill.

Reuse Before Recycling

At ERA, electronics that still have useful life are assessed for potential reuse and refurbishment before recycling is considered.

Reusable equipment may be refurbished and prepared for redistribution through ERA’s technology donation initiatives, helping extend the life of electronics and improve access to technology.

When equipment can no longer be reused, it is directed through responsible electronics recycling processes.

This reuse-first approach helps reduce unnecessary electronic waste while supporting a more circular approach to technology.

What Electronics Can You Bring?

A wide range of unwanted electronics can be brought to the Scarborough collection event, including:

  • Computers and laptops
  • Monitors and TVs
  • Phones and tablets
  • Printers and computer peripherals
  • Cables and accessories
  • Small electronics
  • Other unwanted electronic equipment

Why Responsible Electronics Recycling Matters

Electronic devices contain materials that can often be recovered, reused, or responsibly recycled.

Keeping unwanted electronics out of landfill can help conserve resources, reduce electronic waste, and extend the useful life of technology that may still have value.

For businesses, households, schools, and community organizations, responsible electronics management is also an important part of building more sustainable technology practices.
