Halifax Residents Take Part in Electronics Recycling Event

By electronic recycling association May 5, 2025

On April 25, 2025, the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA), in collaboration with Keshen Goodman Public Library in Halifax, hosted a free electronics recycling and data destruction event, uniting the community around a shared commitment to protecting the environment and safeguarding personal data.

Halifax Takes Action for a Greener Future

Over a two-hour period, local residents and businesses came together to responsibly dispose of their unwanted electronics. Their collective efforts helped divert a significant volume of e-waste from landfills, giving these devices a second life through ERA’s repair and donation initiatives.

A Day of Environmental and Social Impact

All donated electronics are now undergoing secure data wiping. Functional devices will be refurbished and donated to Canadian charities, schools, and nonprofit organizations in need. Non-functional equipment will be recycled in accordance with top environmental standards – ensuring both safety and sustainability.

At ERA, our mission goes beyond recycling. We are committed to data security, waste reduction, and digital inclusion – bridging the technology gap by providing refurbished devices to underserved communities across Canada.

Real-Time Data Destruction for Peace of Mind

A highlight of the event was on-site hard drive shredding, allowing donors to witness their data being securely destroyed in real time. Participants also had the option to receive Certificates of Data Destruction for added assurance.
