High River Community Supports Sustainability at ERA Electronics Recycling Event

By electronic recycling association May 15, 2026

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) proudly partnered once again with the Town of High River for the 2026 Community Green Sweep Event held on May 2, 2026, in High River, Alberta. The annual community initiative focused on sustainability, environmental responsibility, secure electronics recycling, and data destruction awareness.

The event took place at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex and provided residents and local businesses with a free and convenient opportunity to responsibly recycle unwanted electronics while securely disposing of sensitive data.

Thanks to the support of the High River community, approximately 220 lbs of electronics were successfully collected during the event. Collected materials included laptops, computers, electronic accessories, cables, and other unwanted devices that will now either be responsibly recycled or refurbished for reuse whenever possible.

Free Electronics Recycling and Secure Data Destruction

One of the key highlights of the event was ERA’s secure hard drive shredding and data destruction services. Community members were able to safely dispose of storage devices containing confidential and personal information through ERA’s professional destruction process.

Events like this help educate the public about the importance of proper electronics disposal and data security while reducing the amount of electronic waste entering local landfills.

Electronic waste remains one of the fastest-growing waste streams globally. Through partnerships with municipalities and communities, ERA continues to promote responsible recycling, sustainability, and reuse-focused solutions across Canada.

Supporting Technology Reuse and Community Impact

At ERA, recycling is only part of the mission. Whenever possible, reusable electronics collected through community events are securely wiped, professionally refurbished, and donated to charities, schools, nonprofit organizations, and community groups in need.

This reuse-first approach helps extend the lifespan of electronics while improving access to technology for individuals and organizations across Canada.

Thank You to the Town of High River

ERA would like to sincerely thank the Town of High River, Heather Ross, event organizers, volunteers, and all participating community members for helping make the 2026 Community Green Sweep Event another successful partnership.

Community collaborations like this continue to demonstrate the positive impact that municipalities, organizations, and residents can create together through sustainability initiatives and responsible electronics recycling.
