High River Community Takes Action for Sustainability with Free Electronics Recycling Event

By electronic recycling association May 6, 2025

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) was proud to partner with the Town of High River for the annual Green Sweep event, held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex. This important community initiative brought together over 60 volunteers dedicated to environmental stewardship, sustainability, and responsible waste disposal.

As part of this year’s Green Sweep, ERA offered free electronics recycling and on-site data destruction, giving residents a secure and environmentally friendly way to dispose of unwanted electronics. A total of 450 pounds of electronics were collected – helping reduce e-waste and support digital safety in the community.

A Community United for a Greener Future

ERA was thrilled to be part of this impactful day and looks forward to continuing this partnership in future years. Heather from the Town of High River also noted their interest in hosting ERA again during next year’s Green Sweep, which takes place annually on the first Saturday of May.

The collected equipment will be refurbished and redistributed to Canadian charities, schools, and nonprofits – supporting digital access for those in need. Participants also helped raise awareness about data security and sustainable technology reuse.

Thanks to the High River community’s support, hundreds of pounds of electronics were diverted from landfills. These contributions will go on to support ERA’s mission of bridging the digital divide and reducing e-waste, with over 500 Canadian charities currently on the waitlist for donated technology.
