How Electronic Recycling Is Creating Digital Opportunities in Montreal

By electronic recycling association June 2, 2025

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA), in partnership with Genetec, is proud to support digital inclusion efforts at Résidence Le Boulevard (The Boulevard Urban Residence for Seniors) in Montreal with a donation of six refurbished laptops.

This contribution will be instrumental in launching a daily computer skills workshop for residents, providing hands-on training in essential digital tools. The workshops aim to teach participants how to send emails, create professional resumes, and develop basic computer literacy—skills that are increasingly vital in today’s digital-first world.

The initiative reflects ERA’s mission to reduce electronic waste by refurbishing and donating unwanted devices to communities in need. With the support of corporate partners like Genetec, ERA is able to divert functional electronics from landfills and put them into the hands of individuals who can use them to learn, grow, and connect.

“Technology should be accessible to everyone, and through partnerships like this, we’re able to make that vision a reality,” said Bojan Paduh, Founder and President of the ERA. “We’re not just recycling electronics—we’re empowering communities through access to digital tools.”

ERA would like to extend its sincere thanks to Genetec for their generous contribution. Without the ongoing support of partners like Genetec, ERA would be unable to fulfill many of the donation requests we receive from charities and nonprofits across Canada. Their commitment to sustainability and community impact helps us bring refurbished technology to those who need it most.

Résidence Le Boulevard’s new program highlights the growing demand for tech-driven learning opportunities in community housing environments. By providing laptops and digital training, this initiative helps residents become more confident and capable in managing tasks like job searches, online communication, and digital documentation.

ERA remains committed to supporting organizations across Canada through sustainable e-waste practices and meaningful donations. If your business has unwanted laptops, desktops, or other devices, consider donating them to help us bridge the digital divide while protecting the environment.
