How Electronic Recycling Supports Nova Scotia Youth

By electronic recycling association July 16, 2025

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to announce the donation of three refurbished laptops to the Pictou County Youth Club (PCYC) in Trenton, Nova Scotia. This donation supports ERA’s mission to reduce electronic waste and promote digital inclusion across Canada by giving technology a second life.

The Pictou County Youth Club meets weekly and provides essential programming for local youth—many of whom do not have reliable access to a laptop at home or at their meeting place. With the addition of these laptops, the club can now begin to establish a small computer lab to better serve its members.

The technology will enable instructors to demonstrate practical skills, such as building LinkedIn profiles, and allow participants to follow along in real time—an important step toward improving digital literacy and preparing youth for future education and employment opportunities.

By donating these refurbished laptops, ERA is helping to bridge the digital divide in Nova Scotia while keeping electronic waste out of landfills. Every device we refurbish and donate is another step toward building more connected, sustainable, and inclusive communities.

If your business or organization has unused laptops, desktops, or other IT equipment, consider donating to the ERA. Together, we can extend the life of technology, reduce e-waste, and empower Canadian charities and community groups in need.
