Laptop Donation Supports Calgary’s Newcomer Community

By electronic recycling association November 6, 2025

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to donate two refurbished laptops to the Centre for Newcomers in Calgary. This contribution supports the Centre’s efforts to help immigrants, refugees, and newcomers establish new lives in Canada by providing access to technology essential for job searching, education, and community connection.

Through this initiative, ERA advances its mission to reduce electronic waste and empower individuals through reuse, giving retired technology a second life while creating meaningful social impact.

Partner Spotlight: Centre for Newcomers

The Centre for Newcomers is a Calgary-based organization dedicated to helping immigrants and refugees settle and integrate into Canadian society. Its programs focus on language training, employment services, community development, and youth engagement, enabling newcomers to build confidence and independence as they begin their new journeys.

By providing access to essential resources – including technology – the Centre empowers individuals to achieve stability, secure meaningful employment, and contribute to their communities. ERA is honoured to support this important mission through its technology donation program.

Supporting Sustainability and Community Impact

For ERA, sustainability means creating opportunities that benefit both people and the planet. Each refurbished device prevents valuable materials from entering landfills while helping individuals and organizations gain access to reliable technology.

By collaborating with organizations like the Centre for Newcomers, ERA ensures that the positive impact of technology extends into communities that need it most.
