On April 12, 2025, the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) proudly partnered with the New Westminster Police Department to host a successful Fraud Prevention Event. Together, we collected and securely processed over 2,440 lbs of electronic waste from the local community.
This initiative offered residents a safe and environmentally responsible way to dispose of obsolete electronics, including laptops, desktops, hard drives, phones, tablets, tapes, and other data-bearing devices. All hard drives were securely shredded on-site, with 38 drives destroyed to ensure complete data protection.

As part of ERA’s commitment to sustainability and digital equity, items in good working condition will be refurbished and donated to Canadian charities in need. The remaining devices were either securely recycled or processed in compliance with industry best practices for data destruction and environmental safety.
ERA accepts a wide range of electronic items for recycling, including:
- Desktop and laptop computers
- Mobile phones and tablets
- Gaming consoles and stereo systems
- Servers, routers, and phone systems
- Printers, accessories, and software
We extend our sincere thanks to the New Westminster Police Department and all community members who contributed to this event. Your support not only helps reduce electronic waste, but also plays a vital role in protecting personal data and providing refurbished technology to underserved communities across Canada.
