As part of Fraud Prevention Month, the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA), in collaboration with the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Police Service, is pleased to host a free electronic recycling and secure data destruction event for the community. This initiative helps residents safely dispose of unwanted electronics while protecting personal and confidential information and supporting environmental sustainability.

Free Secure Electronic Recycling & On-Site Data Destruction
ERA will provide free, secure electronic recycling services, including on-site hard drive destruction to ensure complete data security. Our industrial hard drive shredder permanently destroys data-bearing devices, helping prevent identity theft and unauthorized data access.

Residents are encouraged to bring unwanted electronics such as laptops, desktop computers, tablets, printers, servers, and other IT equipment for safe disposal. All collected equipment will be securely processed in accordance with ERA’s strict data security and environmental standards.

To witness the destruction of your hard drive, please remove it from your device prior to arriving at the event. Please note that personal and household appliances will not be accepted.

  • Laptops and desktop computers (PC & Mac)
  • Tablets and handheld devices
  • Printers, scanners, and computer peripherals
  • Servers and phone systems
  • Consumer electronics

Fraud Prevention & Community Education
Members of the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Police Service will be onsite to share fraud prevention tips and best practices for protecting personal information. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how to reduce the risk of identity theft and cyber fraud while responsibly disposing of outdated electronics.
