Shell Canada, a valued and longstanding client of the Electronic Recycling Association (ERA), has played a crucial role in our donations program. Their commitment to community involvement has been instrumental in enabling ERA to support numerous organizations each year. It is with great pride that we partnered with Shell Canada to donate a laptop to the Brain Care Centre in Edmonton.

The collaboration between Shell Canada and ERA has made a significant impact on the lives of individuals facing unique challenges through this charitable initiative. One remarkable beneficiary is a 28-year-old male client at the Brain Care Centre. Despite being both deaf and blind, he possesses extraordinary strength and resilience. Furthermore, he endures sporadic and debilitating back pain that severely limits his daily activities. Recognizing his determination to overcome these obstacles, Shell Canada and ERA donated a specially equipped laptop tailored to his specific needs.

The laptop has undergone meticulous configuration, incorporating a state-of-the-art screen reader specifically designed for individuals with visual impairments. By connecting this software to his braille device, our recipient can now access the boundless resources of the internet, opening up new horizons and expanding his knowledge. This technological advancement will undoubtedly pave the way for his journey toward academic success.

In addition to his extraordinary circumstances, our client’s spirit is equally remarkable. Despite the challenges he faces, he maintains a modest demeanor and possesses an exceptional sense of humor. With unwavering optimism, his ultimate aspiration is to pursue pre-university courses that will equip him with the necessary qualifications to enroll in college. His determination serves as an inspiration to us all.
