ERA Donates Laptops to Support Displaced Writers Through PEN Canada
The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) recently donated three refurbished laptops to PEN Canada in Toronto to support members of their Writers in Exile program. This donation is part of ERA’s ongoing mission to reduce electronic waste and promote digital inclusion by refurbishing and redistributing used electronics to charities, schools, and individuals across Canada.
Advancing ERA’s Mission Through Device Donations
At ERA, our mission is simple yet impactful: to reduce unnecessary e-waste and help those in need by repurposing electronics for good. Since 2004, we’ve worked to bridge the digital divide by providing refurbished laptops, desktops, and other tech devices to over 500 Canadian non-profits, charities, schools, and community programs.
Every donation we receive—whether from individuals or businesses—helps extend the life of electronics, prevents harmful waste from reaching landfills, and empowers those without access to essential technology.

Helping Writers Rebuild with Technology
The laptops provided to PEN Canada will support exiled writers who have come to Canada after fleeing environments where freedom of expression was threatened. These writers are eager to rebuild their careers and share their voices, and ERA is proud to support that journey by providing the digital tools they need to succeed.
ERA continues to prove that responsible electronics recycling can have far-reaching, meaningful impact.
