The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is committed to ensuring that everyone, especially those beginning a new life in Canada, has access to the technology they need. Recently, ERA donated two laptops to the Centre for Newcomers in Calgary, AB, as part of our ongoing effort to bridge the digital divide.
This donation will make a significant difference for a newcomer family facing financial challenges. Moving to a new country often comes with substantial financial strain, making it difficult for families to afford essential items, including the electronic devices needed for their children’s education.
With these donated laptops, the children in this family will now have the tools they need to continue their studies and adapt more easily to their new environment.
The Centre for Newcomers offers a range of services, including financial coaching, community connections, mentorship, life skills development, job search assistance, and language instruction for newcomers to Canada (LINC). They also provide support in areas like food services, helping families get established in their new communities.

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2004 to address the growing problem of e-waste and the increasing ‘digital divide’. For over fifteen years, ERA has offered simple solutions to help individuals and organizations prevent operational equipment from premature destruction. With a focus on recovery, refurbishment and reuse, ERA continuously supplies charitable groups with donated IT equipment while securely managing the retiring IT assets of organizations and individuals across Canada. We believe that reuse before recycling is critical in managing the waste created by computer hardware, and by offering industry-leading data destruction for all equipment we receive, we have securely repurposed hundreds of tons of equipment. Because not everything ERA receives can be reasonably repurposed, we have partnered with certified recycling organizations to process equipment that has reached the end of its productive life.
Repurpose your unwanted equipment and support your local community with an electronic donation. With your donation, local community charities are given equal opportunities to support their programs and Canadians in need. Together, we can work towards a future with less e-waste.
