The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA), in partnership with Morguard Real Estate Investment Trust, successfully hosted a series of Earth Week 2026 electronics recycling events in Winnipeg, Manitoba. These events brought communities together and promoted responsible e-waste recycling and sustainability.
Throughout the week, residents and local businesses had the opportunity to recycle unwanted electronics in a safe and convenient way. At the same time, the initiative helped raise awareness about environmental responsibility and proper disposal practices.
Winnipeg Electronics Recycling Events – Completed Locations
During Earth Week, ERA organized three community collection events at Morguard locations:
• Charleswood Centre – April 20, 2026
• Southdale Centre – April 22, 2026
• Crossroads Station Shopping Centre – April 24, 2026
Each location provided accessible drop-off points, making it easier for the community to participate.
Community Impact and E-Waste Collection
The events supported the responsible collection of electronic waste and helped ensure that materials were diverted from landfill and processed correctly.
Although collection volumes varied across locations, each event contributed to increasing awareness about electronics recycling and sustainability. More importantly, participants took an active step toward reducing environmental impact.
ERA follows a reuse-first approach, which means all collected devices are carefully evaluated. Whenever possible, equipment is refurbished and prepared for donation. As a result, usable technology can support charities, schools, and non-profit organizations across Canada.
Strong Partnership with Morguard
The partnership with Morguard Real Estate Investment Trust played an important role in the success of these events. By hosting the collections at shopping centres, Morguard helped make electronics recycling more accessible to the public.
In addition, these locations encouraged community engagement and visibility. This collaboration demonstrates how partnerships between organizations can support sustainability goals and create meaningful local impact.
Secure Electronics Recycling and Data Protection
ERA processes all collected electronics according to strict environmental and data security standards.
ERA ensures:
• Secure data wiping for all devices
• Responsible recycling of non-reusable materials
• Optional documentation such as recycling and data destruction certificates
This provides peace of mind for both individuals and businesses participating in the events.
Supporting Sustainability and Awareness
These Earth Week events are part of ERA’s broader mission to reduce electronic waste and promote responsible recycling across Canada.
Through initiatives like this, ERA continues to:
• Encourage reuse and circular economy practices
• Support communities through technology donations
• Increase awareness about e-waste recycling
By extending the life cycle of electronics, ERA helps create both environmental and social impact.
