The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is exploring the addition of a 2mm dual-stage hammer mill to expand our secure physical data destruction capabilities.
Before moving forward with this investment, we’re conducting market research to better understand the demand for 2mm physical destruction of hard drives, solid-state drives, and other data-bearing media.

Secure Physical Data Destruction
As organizations replace and upgrade technology, securely managing retired data-bearing devices is an important part of the IT asset disposition (ITAD) process.
The equipment ERA is considering would be designed to physically destroy compatible data-bearing media and reduce it to particles of approximately 2mm.
Compatible materials may include:
- Hard Disk Drives (HDDs)
- Solid State Drives (SSDs)
- USB and thumb drives
- Memory cards
- Circuit boards
- Other compatible data-bearing and flash media
The dual-stage system uses a pre-shredder followed by a hammer mill to provide a high level of physical destruction for sensitive data-bearing devices.
Would Your Organization Be Interested?
We’re looking to hear from organizations that regularly manage sensitive information or have requirements for the physical destruction of retired data-bearing devices.
This may include financial institutions, healthcare organizations, government agencies, law enforcement, educational institutions, law firms, data centres, technology companies, and corporate IT departments.
Would your organization be interested in using a 2mm data destruction service for HDDs, SSDs, and other data-bearing media?
We’d also like to learn approximately how many devices your organization typically needs destroyed, how often you require destruction services, and whether 2mm destruction is a requirement for your organization.
Express Your Interest
If your organization would be interested in this service, please fill out the form below and tell us about your data destruction needs.
Your feedback will help ERA better understand market demand and determine whether adding 2mm destruction capabilities would benefit the organizations we serve.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and help us evaluate this potential new service.
