March Is Fraud Prevention Month in Alberta — March 2026

March 2026 marks the 22nd anniversary of Fraud Prevention Month in Canada. Across Alberta, law enforcement, consumer protection agencies, nonprofits, and community partners are working together to help individuals and businesses recognize, reject, report, and prevent fraud.

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to support Fraud Prevention Month by helping Albertans protect their personal and business data through secure electronics recycling and certified data destruction. Old computers, hard drives, phones, and tablets often contain sensitive information. If not properly wiped or destroyed, these devices can expose individuals and organizations to identity theft, financial fraud, and data breaches. ERA helps reduce this risk by offering professional data wiping, hard drive shredding, and secure electronics recycling services across Alberta.

What Is Fraud Prevention Month?
Fraud Prevention Month is an annual public awareness campaign coordinated in Alberta by a coalition of police services, consumer protection agencies, community organizations, and provincial partners. Weekly themes throughout March highlight emerging fraud risks and provide practical education to help Albertans stay safe.

ERA’s Role in Fraud Prevention
ERA works alongside Alberta partners to reduce fraud risks at the source by ensuring sensitive data is securely wiped or destroyed before electronics are reused or recycled. Secure IT asset disposition helps prevent identity theft and corporate data leaks while supporting environmental sustainability and community programs through reuse before recycle.

Take Action
Before recycling electronics, ensure your data is professionally wiped or destroyed.
