Electronic Recycling in Toronto Supports Digital Equity with ERA’s 10 Laptop Donation

By electronic recycling association March 24, 2026

The Electronic Recycling Association (ERA) is proud to support youth education and digital inclusion through its latest donation of 10 laptops and a projector to the Blackhurst Cultural Centre in Toronto, Ontario.

This donation will directly support the Centre’s youth programming, helping participants gain access to essential technology needed for learning, creativity, and collaboration. With these laptops, youth will be able to use free design tools such as Streetmix, Tinkercad, and Roomstyler to create models and plans, document cultural stories and neighbourhood histories through digital media, and collaborate on presentations for community showcases.

Access to reliable technology remains a significant barrier for many young people. Without consistent access to laptops or the internet outside of school, opportunities to build digital literacy and creative skills can be limited. This donation helps bridge that gap—ensuring equitable participation and empowering youth to develop skills that support future academic and career pathways.

Through its donation program, ERA provides refurbished laptops, desktops, and other IT equipment to charities, non-profits, and community organizations across Canada. All devices are securely wiped using industry-leading data destruction standards, professionally tested, and restored to optimal working condition before being redistributed. This “reuse before recycle” approach not only extends the life of electronics but also reduces e-waste and supports communities in need.

Organizations in need of technology or businesses interested in donating electronics are encouraged to visit www.era.ca or call 1-877-939-2783 to learn more about how they can get involved.
